Scott Gibson writes about residential design and construction, and furniture making. He is the co-author of Green From the Ground Up, a book about sustainable building published by The Taunton Press in 2008, and The Workshop (2003). If I put the stove in the basement, would I have to cut vents in the first floor to circulate heat through the house? I love the smell of wood stoves and don't mind the work. Old cellars leak ... but they don't have to be wet. Here's how to correct common problems.
