Comments from our editors:
Ornamental plastering is an ancient art, dating back to the First Century. Romans made extensive use of these techniques to decorate the interiors and exteriors of their buildings throughout the construction of the Roman Empire.

This art has been applied through the centuries to decorate some of the worldÆs most impressive buildings. During the 18th and 19th centuries, most of our government buildings, theaters, and other public places used ornamental plaster.

Master plasterer Walt Barlow describes making molds, casting, setting molds, running molds, building a template, mitering and other techniques. Diagrams and cross sections included.
