What to trim my floors with
Hi All, I had some pine floors refinished in my home. After a few companies told me they couldn't be saved, one brave sould took them on they're gorgeous. He sanded them, patched using extra we found laid in the attic and put 3 coats of semi-gloss on them. They're a beutiful honey colored pine BUT m...

The Poplar
Thankfully the poplar is pretty light and as far as I can see not green in any spaces. Another guy that makes furniture mentioned using a dye. Ug... I've got some work ahead of me. Not only did the guy not do me any favors using poplar..but the drywaller dropped huge blobs of drywall paste all over ...

Poplar stairs, pine floors
I had my pine floors in my od house refinished and they look incredible. Before they had some sort of dark shellac on them and now you can see the beauty of the wood. But, anyway.... we had a new set of stairs built to the second story and the builder used poplar. I really need to start working on s...

The windows
Yes, I committed a cardinal sin as far as this board goes and replaced my old windows with some beautiful wood Anderson's. I am going to have an artist do some painting on my old windows and hang them in my house..the rest I'll sell to someone else who has the time and money to properly restore them.

Need some knowledge - extension jams
We need extension jams installed on 22 windows in our house. A man gave us a bid for $600 to do the job.
Is that reasonable? We don't have a table saw or finish nailer to do it ourselves and we're not sure how much work goes into the job.

Because....
We went to rent a sander and the tool rental place insisted it would not be good to sand floors wiht several layers of paint. He said I'd go through mass amounts of sandpaper. Also, if it's lead based it would be scattered via dust throughout my house. So, I'm stripping it to take it back to what it...

Stripping paint from floors
I'm in the process of chemically stripping paint from some plank flooring in my 1800's farmhouse. I bought some stuff at Home Depot. It's working very well on the top layers, but the bottom layer is this medium brown color and the stripper doesn't work well on it. When I do manage to get some of it ...
