Re: I love seeing all the new "faces" here
Kathy, if they ever do start a mid-century-modest forum, please let me know. I think the homes built in the 1940's are the best. Lots of charm and modern floor plans make them a good choice. Thanks, Amy

CFLS cause cancer. They leak mercury into landfills. Or so I've read.

Re: Bungalow vs. Cape
OHL - I am personally very fond of post WWII houses, especially the small Capes and Minimal Traditionals. I love the tiny footprints and while I understand the styles (minimal, colonial, and modern) don't suit everyone, with half of America's housing stock more than 40 years old, it seems like a li...

Re: What style would you call my 1945 house
It's a Tudor. They were very popular in the 40's. You can tell by the arched door and the roofline over the door way. This style home usually has a more modern interior floor plan and lots of charming details.

I added this to my favorites...I love to look at houses and these almost qualify.
The 70's wallpaper is fixing to be back in style I fear. People will soon grow tired of greige.

Re: Workflowy: brain organization
I had a home inspection done prior to purchasing my little house. I received a nice 3 ring binder with page after page of projects. I have been steadily working through the book. This past summer, I think I finished most everything in the book. Yay me!

Re: Share Your Christmas Story Here
That is a very nice story. Thank you for sharing it with the OHW. Today is the first anniversary of some friends of mine losing their almost 3 yr old daughter in a horrible car crash. The young mother was paralyzed from the waist down in the accident. I have been thinking about them all week long, k...

Re: What floor is you laundry on?
Well, I just couldn't resist! My laundry is on the closed-in side porch of my one story house. It has knotty pine paneling and the original 6 x 6 linoleum tiles. There is room enough for my sewing machine cabinet and two old pine encyclopedia bookcases that hold all my decorating books. There are 5 ...
