Re: Where do you put your goo?

I use small cardboard boxes. ones that you can easily hold in your hand. fold the flaps to the outside and run a band of tape around the outside. the rim works good to scrape off the putty knife. When it starts to fill you dump it in to your plastic bag. when it starts to get gooey and mushy, crush ...

Re: Gutter help?

pooled at about 6 inches deep Yup, good reason. We have rain barrels at two corners of our house. The problem is, if you get huge downpours, you could end up with the barrels overflowing, and the pooling happening. I have one rain barrel on the side of my garage. it has an overflow with a 6' hose a...

Re: Those of you with lots of land...

I would look at how much of it you really need to mow. can parts of it be left to do what it does? I have an uncle with a couple of acres and he only mows out the front area and a few areas around the property. When my dad owned some property "up north" that we used only on weekends he went in to to...

Re: odd sized screen.

Is it possibly an INSERT for a screen door? We have two doors from Combination Door Co. with screen and storm inserts. They are a bit longer than yours but they were made for doors with large openings.... that does make some sense. The door to my balcony is quite narrow and this would seem to be si...

Re: odd sized screen.

nope, stucco house, no additions or subtractions from the house.

odd sized screen.

Digging around in the basement of my house I found what I thought was the screen door to my balcony door. However, it is only 17 3/8" wide and 47" tall. to me its built like a screen door, but is too small and doesn't have any hardware witness marks. it does not fit any window opening in my house. i...

Re: Craftsman Style Trim Around an Arch?

I would say If it was done that long ago (probably was) I would keep it.

My house is a 1930 Tudor and I have similar arches leading to my breakfast nook and between my living room and dining room. They are original as every house on my block (same house) has the same arches.

Re: Weekend motivation tactics

Shizzy, I can relate to the taking 3 longer than you anticipate but you left out the twice as much money. Jeff HAHA! that wasn't left out of the equation on accident. I quit worrying about the "additional" time and money years ago. Ive been tinkering on old cars since I was 15 so I've pretty ...
