Re: A Letter From Code Enforcement about my house UPDATE

I'm sorry you had to go through all of that. The painter's tape was a clever solution. Try to rest up a little and let yourself heal. You've earned yourself a rest. Now, plant hedges that will grow really tall and thick, and plant them to surround your property so that code enforcement can't see in....

Re: NO MORE SPAM: Forum has been upgraded

The forum might have been upgraded, but it didn't solve the spam problem. I kept hanging in there...not wanting to give up on an old "friend." I kept clicking the alert button to the admin after the upgrade, but it hasn't slowed down. There are just too many and they keep on coming. I am frustrated ...

Re: Is this an evidence of an underground oil tank?

My metal detector goes off everywhere in my yard...because there are rusty bits, metal bits, who knows what bits...everywhere! And I can guarantee you we never had an underground oil tank at my farmhouse in southeast Texas! I don't know how deep our detector detects accurately, but it routinely goes...

Bleh, I'm tired of hitting the alert button on all these folks advertising London kitchens. My typing fingers are done for the night.

Re: Looking for Asbestos Siding

Call or email these folks: Cunningham Construction & Lumber, Hillsboro, Texas. Their website is http://www.cunninghamlumber.com. I believe their email address and phone numbers are on the website. they specialize in architectural salvage of all usable materials from old houses that are being demolis...

Re: Does It Matter?

Many tax agencies do not list the correct age of houses. My county has an automatic cutoff date to show a maximum of 51 years old.. Mine was built in 1913, but the tax assessor shows it is 51 years old, which would be a build date of 1962. I don't know that it makes a difference. I've wondered that ...

Re: Enamel over cast iron kitchen sink (and some house info)

thanks, George. That is so nice of you, but try to find another home for it. I have a roomy kitchen with a long counter, and really like the double drainboard. I actually want a sink that is really deep to accommodate canners and tall stock pots. The right thing will come along when I'm ready for it...
