Re: Anyone installed a ventless gas heater?

Rehab, the installer for the propane company, from which I bought the fireplace, installed it and services it. I also have a propane water heater and stove and this guy has installed all three appliances. However, before I had the big fireplace I had a small, antique-looking propane heater that was...

Re: Anyone installed a ventless gas heater?

Thanks for the pic too Daniel. The two area downstairs I am deciding between are on a similar size wall space. I'll have hubby read your post and see if he's interested in giving it a shot.

Re: Anyone installed a ventless gas heater?

I have a ventless gas fireplace for the exact reason stated above - backup heat in case the power goes out. The rest of the house is on a 15 KW generator, but I couldn't put the heat pump on it as well. The fireplace looks nice, works on automatic or with the remote (I love that - instant fire!), a...

Re: Anyone installed a ventless gas heater?

Those ventless heaters are pretty awesome. Our apartment before we bought our house had just one, and it heated the whole apartment (2nd floor of a victorian) and our highest gas bill ever was about $200 in a really cold month. Only drawback to it being the sole heating unit was that you had to lea...

Re: Anyone installed a ventless gas heater?

Oh so good to hear. We really need some extra heat in here. Hubby can be pretty handy. Do you have yours mounted on a wall or use them with feet? My hope is to put one downstairs and one upstairs and hopefully along with the pellet stove we will keep toasty.

Re: Is there really a storm door to keep the cold out?

Melissa, That's what I've been trying now on the windows with the most breeze coming in still. The kitchen window, on the north side of the house is much better now. The trim on that window is 80's yuck so I just plasticed, taped the heck out of it and put in a couple staples for good measure. One wi...

Re: Is there really a storm door to keep the cold out?

Rosemary,
That storm door is really pretty! I'd like something nice for the front of the house. The two side doors my main concern at this point is weatherization. The doors aren't the thickest wood and you can really feel the cold just touching them. The air just blasts on that side of the house.

Anyone installed a ventless gas heater?

I could use some tips or should I get a pro to do it? We have a hole already that I'm sure the gas line would fit through so what we need is to mount the heater on the wall and put in the gas lines (natural gas) and connect everything up to the meter. No electrical to mess with. We have gas lines in...

Re: Is there really a storm door to keep the cold out?

Thanks for the replies! I went out today and put some plastic on the outside of the door for now because temps are going to drop with 20's for high and single digits for lows again. Eee gad that side of the house is chilly! This place is sure a challenge to keep air out! I've got to go buy some more...
