Re: Why stop with the bedroom?
This was the kitchen http://2.bp.blogspot.com/-MJMkosVTjC0/T02IdN68weI/AAAAAAAAAEo/UFpBTUWC6-A/s320/a11.JPG really all that's changed or will be changing in there will be the tile backsplash and appliances. Well, and the floor will be back to the original pine with a coat of linseed. And the globe o...

Re: Why stop with the bedroom?
I decided against the toile in the dining room. At the moment, the current color scheme choice is bayberry green beadboard and light cream above on the drywall, both SafePaint from the Old Fashioned Milkpaint co. I'm thinking slate blue on the beadboard in the hall. I'll coat both with linseed to gi...

Re: Hurricane Sandy
No damage here. A neighbor lost some shingles but that's about it. Power never even went out.
Lupin, we drove past you a few weeks back. We got a wild hair to drive around the lake one day, lol. Took the QEW past Toronto then hopped on the 2 most of the way after that.

Re: Why stop with the bedroom?
Thanks! I need to post updated pics. The dining room floor is done, we need to move the fridge and stove so we can finish the kitchen floor. We ran the new electric in the dining room, SO happy to have power back in that room! Next up is the kitchen. So, we demo'd the tile backsplash (it was already...

Re: Hurricane Sandy
We're in the crosshairs for the winds. I've never seen predictions for wave heights like this up here. Gale force gusts up to 60 and waves building to 16-22 feet. I know for sure 22 feet will top our cliff. That's some scary stuff! This is our marine forcast: knotshttp://www.wunderground.com/MAR/LO/...

Re: TOH
I think the problem isn't specifically just the total gut and redo like the current season. I don't think TOH was always about 100% authenticity and no updates what so ever. It was however, more sensitive to the home's history, and more given to working WITH the home than beating it into the most cu...

Re: Mystery Compartment in the Floor?????
We had two floor patches in our Old House. One had been a register vent, the other was a mystery until the old neighbor, who was in his 80's and lived there since his childhood, told us about how a previous owner got the idea to remove the old centrally located chimney from the bottom up. He also ha...

Re: Kitchen Range reccomendations
I have every intention of getting my mothers old Tappen Doughboy, circa 1950 refurbished and moved into my Kitchen, eventually. She also had a 1965 GE fridge with the swing out shelfs, both still in that kitchen at my fathers house. Never looked at any dual fuel models, tho they seem awful high pri...
