Re: Some of my favorite old houses

Hyde Park...thanks for showing those pics. The pics of the houses in Dedham are in my old neighborhood. I have always loved the yellow house. It has such cool lines. That was one of the caretakers/guest houses for the Endicott Estate and they moved it to Sanderson Ave at some point. Its very cool. T...

Re: Old House Etiquette

I can see how you were a bit weirded out, but it kind of comes with the territory of having a "cool house". We have people snapping pics outside quite often, and im kind of flattered by it. Sad what they did to this place

They tout it as being updated for the modern age - yuck! Be sure to take a look at the 3rd floor "suite". It may be just me, but I certainly would NOT enjoy the bathroom fixtures in the bedroom - its just weird! http://www.boston.com/realestate/gallery/homeoftheweek/030611/?p1=Well_RE_Center_links

Re: Advice for historic home tour?

I second what James and Mellissa said. You will definitely clean like there is no tomorrow. Having many tour guides on hand helps a lot, and if you do, provide them a place to take a break - coffee, refreshments in that area. Before and after pics are awesome. People always love to hear the stories ...

Re: Are we idiots?

Fortunately you have steam heat, so the likelihood of anything bursting is slim. It does take a while for the steam to heat up all the rads, so perhaps you just werent giving it enough time. Also the air relase vaves on the rads might need some "tweaking". Steam is AWESOME heat, but it does need to ...
