My new house hardly qualifies as tour bus material. But it's one of the oldest (c. 1907) on our two adjoining blocks. And the POs were here for 25 years, with heavy curtains on all the windows. Once we moved in, we noticed that neighbors were interested. Probably just in an interior they'd never see...

Thanks for the suggestions, everyone. I'd also been hypothesizing that it might be for internal screens or storms. Seems like a few of us have the same gut.
