Thanks Jade - how do I adjust the weights? They look like solid rusty *something*, so I don't see myself cutting them
There are smaller weights in the attic, but I hope to restore those too (they belong to the attic windows)...

Choosing a paint color was one of the scariest decisions I have ever made ~ even harding than naming my children in some ways :wink: So I don't have any great input for you ~ I just *have* to comment on your lovely home! We have no painted wood other than the picture rail in all rooms - upstairs, main floor, bedrooms, closets and kitchen... It is also shellac. The floors upstairs are maple and downstairs oak. As for the types of woodwork- we have doug-fur in the kitchen, pantry and upstairs while the dining room and...
