Re: Introduction

Thanks oldhouseluvr. We have never done anything even remotely close to painting a house, but I am very happy with how it looks. This grand porch was renovated last summer, and it looks almost exactly the same. Except we are not crazy about the stair railings... but they had to be up to code and we ...

Re: HW under subflooring under cabinets in kitchen?

Thank-you Karen, your feedback is most helpful. I believe the subflooring is plywood. There is one spot of linoleum missing, and that is what it looks like. Re: Exterior of your home pics

Here are a few shots of our home built in 1903. We are getting close to finishing the exterior painting, but it isn't 100% complete. You also have to use your imagination to see through the trees  We can't bear to cut them down as they are a major part of keeping our upstairs bedroom cool in t...

Introduction

I have been browsing the Old house web forums for a week or so now and decided I should come out of "hiding". My husband and I bought our 1903 Queen Anne Victorian 12 years ago. We are the 3rd family to own this beauty and have been working on painting the exterior for the past 2 years. As for the i...

HW under subflooring under cabinets in kitchen?

Our kitchen linoleum is in need of replacement. Under the sub-flooring, it looks like the original hardwood flooring is still there. Our kitchen cabinets are about 8 years old... so, they are on top of the subflooring. Tearing out the fairly new cabinets is not an option. Do any of you know if it is...
