Watering the flowers....Old House Style!


Got my sprinkler last year at the auction for $1 Love it...Love it! I remember running through one just like it at my Grandmas house as a child!

Got me a new Hosta...it's supposed to be First Frost, but it's not quite right. I think it's super cool though!

That is a nice hosta. I'll have to look for that kind. I'm enamoured with the giant hostas, though. I've thought about getting a couple and using them in the planters for the summer. When fall comes, they could go into the ground.

I just got into the Hostas myself. There were a few HUGE green ones at the Cottage when we bought it, and I jsut got around to splitting them this past week. They were taking over the place and crowding everything out. So I started poking around and found like 4000 different kinds, lol. I picked up these from a farm: Niagara Falls, Cameo, Great Expectations, June, Stained Glass, Patriot and Fire And Ice. Then I grabbed a Dream Queen from someone else, and that First Frost from HD. First Frost is supposed to be blue with a thin white margin, this apparently is a first frost trying to sport (mutate) into a whole new variant. I hope if does!

Anyway, when we split the huge ones I ended up creating a new garden bed for them so I just had to get more (see above). I also have White Feather, Blue Ivory and Brave Attempt on my want list, but I can't find a local grower with them (I like to pick my specific plants).

I also picked up a species Rosa Rugosa that should fit the Old House theme at a plant swap. It was a good garden weekend!! Of course, splitting the big hostas and making a new bed made a mess, since now everything needs to fill out again.

My wife is the gardener and this is our third summer in the house. The property was totally overgrown. Many trips to the ravine to dump vegetation over the cliff. A few of the plants were here when we bought the place but most was her doing. This is of the south side of the house. The front has nice plantings but this side gets all the sun.




The property slopes down and the next lot doesn't. There is an old wall tha has collapsed and she's used it in the landscaping.

i'm enjoying your gardens...love the close-ups of the flowers...cool sprinkler mo...how simple was it to keep us happy as kids?

do tattoo landscapes count?? i won't even attempt to send a photo....just got two dahlias on my right shoulder/arm and a 'vector' art flower on my left leg...

the one on my leg is the art in the large square box on the left--minus the hummingbird and circle at the bottom...the stems are dark to light green and the flowers are orange and purple.... http://www.freepik.com/free-vector/vect ... 333219.htm
