Grilladier Indoor Barbecue

Postby YoYukon on Wed Nov 08, 2006 4:25 pm

We just moved from an 1890s Vic to a 1960s New England Colonial. There is a massive center chimney that serves two woodburning fireplaces and a vented indoor barbecue grill that is made of cast iron components built directly into the brick of the chimney mass. It's stamped "Grilladier" on the firebox door, but I have been unable to find any information on this or other similar indoor grilling units. The fireplace has a regular flue with damper. The previous owner said they never used it in the 24 years they lived in the house. We had the chimney inspected and they said it was safe to use with charcoal or wood, and that it had definitely seen plenty of use prior to the most recent owner.

I'd love to hear from anyone else who has a Grilladier or similar unit.
