siding

Post by s.kelly »

Looking at the froint of the hose this weekend. Was going to scrape and paint, but I may end up replacing siding. I have done a couple walls on the back of the house, and I am not thrilled with the end result. As soon as it gets in the sun the siding likes to cup and other lovely things. Got it baqck primed and painted before it goes up.

I am blind nailing like I have done Hardie in the past, but I looked at some other local work and I see face nailing. Seems like face nailing might keep the wood from moving as much even though it is not as clean a look.

Any thoughts?

Yes - you need to face nail wood siding or bad things will happen. Cement board is stable enough but wood will cup.

that's what I was figuring, guess I did not think about it when I did it. Sure like the look of blind better, but the cupped look really is bad.
thanks
