Sewing (Pic Heavy)

While I've been sanding and generally banging about, my wife has been sewing up a storm (not her favorite thing to do):

Wow! Those are all gorgeous curtains, but the swagged valances - especially the one with the tassels - are really super! Um, any chance she could come to my house to sew some? (bwahaha)

What is the name of the red/orange paint color shown in the first pic?

A woman I can relate to! She is doing great work and the colors are beautiful. I bet she is having the time of her life sewing for your house. I started sewing when I was eight years old and it is my passion. I have made every concievable thing out of fabric for our houses, quilts, drapes, shades, appliqued table linens, slip covers, dog beds, etc. I found two wing chairs at Habitat for $30 and reupholstered them for another $50. I bought a very nice settee off of Craigslist ($85) and reupholstered it for $70. It is such fun and it is so comforting to have things that really are exactly our taste. I encourage everyone to learn to sew; the ability for self expression is unlimited and it will bring you such joy!

Thanks everyone!

Nathalie...that color is a couple of PO's old, and I'm glad you brought it up because I realized that we don't have a can of that left, and I have to do some touchups...oops.

"Not her favorite thing to do"??? Wow! She is so talented and her fabric and color choices are beautiful. She certainly is a talented sewer for someone who doesn't like it. She could do this professionally. Thanks for sharing your pics. I love the "after" shots and I'm sure I am not alone when I say that I would love to see more of these rooms. :D
