Very true.. although with the craigslist shopping I've been doing lately that could still happen!

I'm obsessed with shopping for old stuff on forums lately. My porch now has an old (not sure how old) vanity and dresser I picked up because when we finish the kids room we might need it. The stuff we pulled out of the barn is overflowing the garage and part of the yard  . I don't need the majority of the items from there but I can not bare to get rid of them! I should take pictures and post them under my barn post (if I can find it) and hopefully someone could use some of this stuff. It's not in the best shape because it was exposed to the weather in the barn, and now even more so. But ... I.. seem to be obsessed with saving everything...

Does that qualify me as a hoarder I wonder?

My definition of hoarder is when you start keeping the contents of the wastepaper basket instead of emptying it. :D

Now I just need to think of something creative to do with the 1970s TV that's currently sitting smack dab in the middle of my room... it's only slightly damaged, the picture has a light green hue for the first few minutes after you turn it on. Might be easy to fix, but I got a working better and newer TV for free. Can't really get rid of that almost-working huge chunk of fake dark wood though.
The bad thing with electricity : it almost always works.

Whew, I'm safe then! I empty the trash religiously lol

As for your old tv, I just had to look up what you can do with those things (we have a few ourselves)

A fishtank is a cool idea from the website above

Since it's in almost working condition I'd actually prefer to have it fixed up, maybe to use it in the holiday home or something like that. If the fix gets expensive I'll get rid of it anyway.

Hello, I'm new here. :)

I just stumbled upon this forum while looking up tin tubs. We have one in our master bath. It is rusted on the bottom and the trim is in poor shape so we can't use it. I am trying to determine if the tub might be of interest to someone for restoration - or if I should just leave it out with the trash. I tried calling a few antique dealers but got no response.

Anyone here have any thoughts, I'd be curious to know?

Thanks!
Tonya

I can help you with this!!

This was an old console TV

It might just need a new tube. OR it just needs to warm up and that's how it is.

I am really at a loss with what to do with my old console radio/record player myself. It's HUGE, in comparison to the size of the cottage (it seemed HUGE at the Old House too, but at least it had a spot in the entry hall). I think it's got to be 4-5' long. If it was just any old thing I'd sell it, pitch it or repurpose it. BUT it's the only piece of furniture the rest of my family didn't scavange from my grandparent's house after my grandfather passed..and it works fine. I *think* it might fit in the bedroom, but I really need storage space more than a huge radio. There is no other home for it though. I don't know if I can bring myself to repurpose it into storage if it does fit...and I dont' know if I can give up the storage if I can't hack it up. ARG. If only I had gotten the cedar chest, lol. SO much easier to keep and use!

I can't think of any dealers I know (we used to be in a co-op) that would buy an old tub. HOWEVER, if you post it on Craigslist you will very likely find a buyer.
