I can relate to this story,I was a woodshop teacher for New Jersey State Corrections, the dept I worked for was called JJC Juvinile Justice Commission.I visited Highfields many times, like the articile stated it housed young teen residents. The property was large and the house was very well taken care of,I dont remember to much of the insides though. In the one picture you see the side of the house with a ladder up aganst it, there is now a one story addition there.

I followed the link back to Lindbergh's boyhood home in Minnesota which is preserved intact. The Midwestern 1906 style was so captivating to me. It's a simple, almost sparce, home. The other famous pilot, Amelia Erhart (spelling?), has a childhood home in Kansas which is a wonderful day-trip.
