I HAVE COMPLETLY LOCKED THE BOARDS DOWN

Post by Schag »

BECAUSE OF THE "GREAT SPAM FEAST", I HAD TO LOCK THE BOARDS DOWN FROM LETTING ANY NEW USER COME IN.
I'LL KEEP IT THIS WAY FOR A COUPLE OF WEEKS, OR UNTIL THE SITE OWNERS COME IN AND FIX UP ALL THIS CRAP.
PLEASE GO VISIT THREADS THAT YOU LIKE AND GIVE THEM A BUMP.
THIS WILL AT LEAST PUSH THE SPAM OFF THE FRONT PAGE.

ANY HELP ON THIS WOULD BE APPRECIATED.

THANKS,
SCHAG (A VERY TIRED MODERATOR)

Thanks, and I don't know who's idea it was, but it seems like a good one

I truly believe that the spam-a-lama will taper off to zero pretty quick if the site is locked.

They look for easy targets. If they can't post, they move on.

Hopefully once the site gets listed or noted as shut-down, it won't get passed on and on like a hot credit card number.

Thanks for your diligence!

Thanks Schag! The spam sure was frustrating.

Some of the sites I visit require typing in a word and email verification to complete the registration process. I wonder if that's possible with this site? Thanks for your hard work. I appreciate it. Jill

Too bad the spam got so bad. Some of us have been spending time at the new community for folks with a love of old houses at wavyglass.org

Never thought I would see the day when you actually had to come down off the porch, but I am certainly glad you did!
