Advice for restoring this wallpaper?

Wed Jun 27, 2018 1:12 pm

Hello! Last night I was peeling the old wallpaper off my master bath walls and discovered some pretty amazing wallpaper underneath. It looks like it's maybe from the 60s and is a very heavy weight, almost fabric-like wallpaper. The wallpaper I was removing came off so easily I was surprised it stuck to the wall to begin with. On top of the vintage paper is a layer of what looks like a primer or whatever substance was used to hang the wallpaper I removed. It's flaky and thin and I'd love to be able to remove it and keep the vintage paper. I'm thinking maybe a soft grit sand paper and plastic putty knife to start. Any suggestions? I realize it will not be easy and am up for the challenge. It's not a huge space. Attached is a pic of what I'm dealing with.

Thanks!!

You may use the wood frame (or metallic one) too. It will spruce up the outlook. There were some good ideas on Forbes how to make the bathroom more functional and do not change drastically at the same time. Can't find the link now.

Cool theme! Wallpaper is very important for the interior. The independent choice is very responsible and very complicated. Therefore, it must be done under the guidance of a designer or a person with good taste.
