HOW TO POST PICTURES OF YOUR OLD HOUSE!!!!

Postby Schag on Tue Jan 17, 2006 6:36 pm

Posting pics is pretty easy as long as you follow a few steps.

1. Put the pic on your computer.
2. Upload it to a pic host, (http://www.photobucket.com works pretty well) You can't just link to the pic on your hard drive.
3a. (Management Request) Edit your photo so that it is no more than 500 pixels (or dots per inch resolution) in width. This keeps the threads from resizing because of some of the very large pics.
3. Copy the URL for the image.
4. Click on the "IMG" tag at the top, then paste the URL.
5. Click preview to make sure the pic shows.

Hope this helps.

Additional pointer:

The websites that host pics usually have an editing function that will help you reduce your pic.

Caution, make sure that you have your origional saved on your computer as any editing that you do can't be undone.

I'll be watching this thread, so if anyone has questions or needs help, just ask. :D

I have found blogger ( http://www.blogger.com ) to be super easy to use, and they host photos. You can kill 2 birds in one stone... essentially create a record of your projects in a webpage format, and have a place to link to hosted photos. here is one I just started: http://locuststreethouse.blogspot.com

for those who haven't "blogged" before, it's also cool that it's interactive. people can post comments on your posts.

here's my other blog... this one is way more in depth, but you can see the functionality is really limitless ( http://denvercoffee.blogspot.com ) - Yes. I do have a coffee problem. ;-)

EDIT: I have also started using Picassa, whichi s also owned by google (and free).

Here's what I do:

1) Attach camera to computer or insert SD card into slot if you have one on your computer.

2) When prompted, choose "copy pictures to Picasa" (I use this program now to organize all my digitial photos).

3) Select the photos you want to post, then hit "blog this" (you have to create a blog first, which takes about 2 minutes at blogger.com)

Add any captions you want.

You now have a blog post after doing almost nothing.

You can then right click on the blog photos that are posted, and select "properties" to determine the location of the photo, then cut that URL and past it into forums between the IMG tags.... or you can just link to your new blog. Feel free to PM me with any questions.

Thanks for the advice and instructions. It might be faster to invite you all over for coffee and pass around the photo album.

Schag,
I must really be dense. Not much on posting pictures. Where the heck do I get to "preview". Got the images posted to the host but it all seems to fall apart after inserting using "Img". No option for preview.
Joe
O.K. I think I get it Go to the post preview duuuuuuu.

Instead of using img, if you are on a pic site already, just click on url once enter the site that is up on your pic page and hit it again when you are done with the address. I've been strugling with posting pics for two days, finally figured it out so check it out in general disscussion. Check out my pics at http://photobucket.com/albums/e382/JshBetz/my%20house/

Thanks for your help. But I think having everyone over for show and tell is a better and probably a quicker idea.
But I will give it a try and see if it works. Thanks again Nikki

Isn't there a thread where people put a pic of their monster furnaces? I found the pics of the badboy they pulled out last summer and thought I'd use an old thread instead of a new thread.....
