A meeting place for regulars to discuss the lighter side of old-houses.

Thanks for the info, M. A.! I thought my feet felt kinda moist, but supposed it was just the humidity!
Last night was the Civic Association's annual Yucca Flats party at a gorgeous early 1920's 2-story Craftsman. As soon as I recover from the after-effects of that shindig, I'll see if it's possible to move myself to my back yard. If I remember correctly, my front yard is obscured by some ancient camphor trees planted in the 1930's. Horrible "trash trees", always shedding twigs or berries and home to a huge family of grackles.

cool, we can use this map to mark where we are...http://mapservices.org/myguestmap/map/oldhouseweb
just zoom into your town, or even down to your actual street address, if you so desire. then click on the map and Enter your OldHouseForum Name and a message. Maybe you want to enter your Forum name as the "name" and the message can be your actual first name.... whatever...

Greetings fellow cheddarheads
Was surprised to see on the map that Wis/ Northern Ill is such a hotbed of old house lovers - yeah!
Would not know that to look around here (Madison) the way everything's being torn down, condo-ized, and/or modernized/buried in vinyl/remuddled inthe name of "preserving" it. Have been exploring SW Wis longingly looking at & lusting after some of the sweet old buildings that still exist that have been left more intact ... thinking seriously of moving!

Anyone out there living in Mineral Pt. (Wisconsin)? How do you like it?
I was looking at some wonderful old houses there- some for sale. I like that all (or most?) of the town is a historical disctrict.

Old windows (no glass) and doors with glass doorknobs some of the glass is cracked or scratched on the doorknobs . The doors are from my neighbors Tudor Revival and the Windows are double hung from a bungalow. I have a torch style light fixture too its really heavy. Do you want to see pics?
