http://www.newspressnow.com/localnews/29368622/det look at article titled "classic..... but crumbling".

I have watched this house deteriorate for the past five years. the asshole owner wouldn't sell it, and wouldn't fix it. Now, we are losing it to the wrecking ball. there are SO many deserving properties here, more than any other city I have ever seen.

another one bites the dust. The Cracker House will be demolished.

That is such a shame, unfortunately there are many people out there that have so little control over their lives that they feel if they can destroy things they can prove they have some glimmer of power or control. I hope there is a special place in hell for people like that.

so sad,

Sad. Someone should start a memorial at the site w/boxes of Saltines. Our town isn't far off the St. Louis mark, let me tell you. And we have far fewer historic sites to lose, yet they blindly issue demolition permits without any thought to the history of the house or site.

It is such a waste!
Maybe you could ask the paper if you could start an Obit column for old houses.

Such a shame; it obviously was a spectacular house once.
