"You know you're an old house owner when..." ... you gleefully wade through mountains of junk in basement, attic, garage, or any other outbuilding looking for original doors, storm windows, or light fixtures that were originally in your old house!
We have two "sheds" at our farmhouse that we got along with the property. I've been slowly going through them trying to weed out the absolute junk to go to the dump (sorry, "transfer station").
Look at this beaut I found!
As far as I can tell it's an old coffee can, spray-painted black, with holes drilled for Lite-Brite (tm) pegs. Not exactly what I was hoping for, but I don't think it can be beat for kitsch value. It kills me that all I had to do was plug it in, and it works just fine.

Found original light fixture! (No, not really, but funny)
Our 1914 brick Toronto house; Our 1913 concrete island house; and the house I dream of owning, my husband's family's 1880-ish Toronto foursquare.

I would love to send you the Bleach bottle cut down with a crochet handle and ruffle full of plastic flowers my PO left in the basement. I am sure it would go perfectly with your light. Keep looking you may find a pair.

WONDERFUL! I was completely addicted to LiteBrite as a kid. I would sit for hours, putting those tiny little pegs in those tiny little holes. Then taking them out and starting all over again.
At the very least, you have to save that and hang it at parties. Great conversation starter.

That is pretty funny! I can imagine my kids going through our house when we are gone and laughing over some of my homemade items. But I would keep your light fixture- it is original!

That's what comes from living on an island in the cold Canadian Winters!
