Argg.... No more trash finds for me. My city changed its garbage policy and now it is not allowed anymore to leave things outside...

Wait a second... you got a Trabant in the US?!? Now that's a crazy story! Not many of them even made it to Western Europe, I think around 65 were officially exported to Austria way back in the 60s and similarly small numbers to countries like Belgium and the UK.

Never knew any of them officially made it to the continent of America! I do faintly remember that a few crazy people imported some used ones on their own, but I guess that's maybe 5 cars total.

Trabants are definitely fun cars! When I was 15 I was allowed to drive one out in the fields. Coolest experience ever!

This car was imported into Canada from East Germany in 1990. It was not sold here.

I'll try to find some photos, but I have a old record player I refinished. It's going in the living room of my project house soon. I also play with older cars. I have a '69 Chevrolet truck with a 1957 283 in it. I also have a few old Toyota Supras in the yard, 3 to be exact. I love old stuff so much that I have never bought a new car, I build older ones to my liking. It makes me the happiest.

I really didn't do much, just cleaned it up (a lot, it was in a barn) and removed the broken glass. I still have to figure out how to reflatten and reglue the veneer.
