Yay! I finally have something to report!

We scored six salvaged porch columns last week that are very similar to the long-gone originals. I started scraping paint from the first one today. My porch deserves to have columns back!

Too bad the spam got so bad. Some of us have been spending time at the new community for folks with a love of old houses at http://www.wavyglass.org

that looks great. youve got me excited to see what ours look like.

scored a solid oak front door with original brass entry set and key! Also bevelled glass, doorstop and ballhinges. Just have to plane a little off the top!

Six 2x8 pine planks to refloor the front porch with. Theyre about 16 feet long. Im going to have a lot of questions later about these ones.

Caulked the last window that needs repainting, just waiting on everything to dry before painting.

Power washed what appears to be our new floor, formerly sheathing behind clapboard siding on an older garage that had been taken down and stacked for several years.

Hung the front door. Will need a few tweaks and adjustments, but it's on and it works!

Thanks Kathy! Now I wish I could find a local source for hand cut nails (we're face nailing and gluing it). And time to linseed/turp it all!

All I have done lately is work on little stuff-more cleaning of the Kitchenaid (it's almost usable, yay), more planting (I love free plants) and hung some flag buntings. Hopefully in the next few days we'll bring home our new vintage (1950's) fridge and kick out the 2000's era Kenmore, stack more firewood and paint the last window I scraped, as long as the glazing DH replaced is finally dry. And maybe some power washing, the cob webs are just FULL of sandflies and it looks icky, I especially prefer to keep them cleaned up by the doors. And maybe some more planting, there are some garden club plant sales coming up..if they are inexpensive enough, I might finish another bed!
