Pics of house we want to relocate to save from demolition

Postby Liberty Ridge on Sun Apr 29, 2012 9:37 am

Here are a few pictures of the house we are trying to save via moving it from its present location. Figuring whether we can afford to do it is still an ongoing process as we are still collecting bids to move the structure and renovate it, all the while time is ticking.

Back of the house has 2 additions

Front. I know its not the best photo, but there are two large trees in the front yard that make photoing difficult. This is the best I could do.

It looks in very good condition for a house that's scheduled to be demolished. I love the open upstairs landing area. Very similar to our home. Windows are a little small. Looks like it has a few additions and being a more spread out and not a simple rectangular foundation may make it challenging to move.

We have gone over the challenges of moving the house with a couple of structural movers. It can be done, but so far our only estimate is well above 100k way more than we have read elsewhere. We are hoping for more reasonable estimates to come.

I do so hope you can find someone to help you move her. Such a grand old home.

have you gone to the county and asked if they would be willing to pay a portion of your relocation costs as it would cost them money to have it demolished? Even if you made it a condition to contribute $20K it would probably cost less than demolition.

that looks like a big, substantial two-story! Would they move it all in one piece?

This is a great suggestion. We plan to ask the county to pitch in. If you don't ask then you won't find out.

The plan is to move the house in 4 large sections.
