Oddball Interior Locks

Postby Obdurate on Sat Feb 23, 2019 2:13 pm

I have mortise locksets on all interior doors in our home which dates from about 1890. They seem to all work properly, however the ceramic back plates/rosettes for the door knobs are all loose. There's a sort of threaded brass ferrule holding them in and over the years the soft brass threads have become stripped. I've never seen anything like them before and have no idea where to find replacements. Does this design ring any bells with anyone else? I really don't want to replace all the locksets or the ceramic backplates. I'm sure there's a proper name for the part I'm looking to replace, but I certainly don't know what it might be. I've attached a picture--any ideas or thoughts on the topic are welcome. If I've given a poor description, please be patient, I'm new here.
