Anyone used this product?

Postby lupinfarm on Mon Jul 25, 2011 3:49 pm

Hi...I have to tile my bathroom vanity top and am being the big "heave ho" to get it done pronto. I as thinking of using
either Bondera tile mat or Simple mat tile mat. I wondered if any one on OHW has used either of these products and
if so what was the outcome. Any picures of projects using either of these products would be nice to see. :?:

When I did one of our bath countertops (six years ago), I used the traditional cement board and thinset. If I had known about these products (if they were around then), I'm not sure I would have used them because I'm an old school traditionalist....doesn't mean you shouldn't though!!

I just did a roof repair this week and used Grace Ice and Water Shield, which is the one-sided version of Bondera i guess. IWS I love, so if Bondera is anything like it, I bet it works as advertised.

Edit to add: re: IWS: We don't call it "Bitch-a-thane" for nothing....it sticks to stuff like glue and sticks to itself even faster. If you make a mistake with Bondera, even tho they say you can reposition the tile, I would do a "test screw-up" to be sure, then you would know what you're dealing with before you do your installation.

I'd be interested to hear the report on how it works if you use it.

You could do a search for Bondera on this forum and see what the experts think;
