Reinstalling old bead board

Postby Daveydaveydavey on Sat Oct 12, 2019 11:39 am

Hey y’all, my wife and I just bought a farmhouse built in 1920 and we are really excited about it. In the bedroom beneath a bunch of pressboard (think cardboard) we found the original bead board wall and after removing about 1000 nails of varying shapes and sizes we decided we want to keep it. I think I need to remove it all so I can clean, rewire and insulate behind it, so my question is this, when reinstalling the slats should I put up some sort of paneling or plastic vapor barrier first to help seal everything up first, or just nail the slats right back up to the studs?

This is my first time dealing with bead board and all I can find online are things dealing with paneling.
