Oh my! What a project you embarked on!!
So great to have the house heading back to its original configuration.

Great storytelling through the photos!
Thanks! (I think the house & fireplace are thanking you too!)

Wow, awesome! Great progress and a good read so far. That was a very creative use of that old fireplace - I give them that much. You are lucky to have a lot of original elements left in the house.

Welp, we have successfulyl moved in to our new-old house!!! It's so exciting to finally be in! I still have a bunch of small and medium-sized projects left (who doesn't!). The house is an absolute mess right now as we try to get unpacked and situated.

Another problem rears it's ugly head, again! I came home last night to find most of the family upstairs with my wife showing some friends around. When I caught up to them my wife informed me that we had a bat in our shower!

With the temps warming up, 71F yesterday, the hibernating bats that I knew we had in a portion of our attic apparently have woken up. I have had to deal with a stray one here and there that have made thier way into the house proper from time to time during the construction process but was hoping to have it taken care of prior to move in.

I was able to toss a box over the winged offender and slide a peice of cardboard under him and took box & bat outside to release him. Today I will be back on the phone with my insurance agent to see if they will cover remediation of the problem.
