Help Identifying Wood Floors

Postby dmhackett8 on Sun Aug 28, 2016 2:18 am

Hello everyone!

I'm new to the forums and have a couple of questions for you experts out there!

My wife and I just bought a house built in 1952. It has exposed wood floors in the bedrooms and wood flooring under the carpet in the hallway and living space. We're planning to rip up the carpet and refinish all of the wood flooring, but it'd be helpful to know what kind of wood we're working with!

We're novices at identifying wood, so attached is a picture of the flooring. Can anyone tell what it is? We're thinking red or white oak, but the different colored pieces (some dark some light) are throwing us off.

Any help would be appreciated! Thanks!

Dave
