Help Identifying decking/insulation in old hour

Postby lanasain on Sat Nov 05, 2016 9:31 am

I purchased a house built in 1959, and the interior vaulted ceiling/decking is exposed and I need help identifying it. Please see the picture.
I want to install a thin rigid foam insulation over it, then T&G boards, but still leave the large rafters exposed as much as possible. I wonder if it ok to nail the tongue and groove through the rigid foam and into this decking? Any advice is greatly appreciated!
