Stairs in closet
I have a 1924 Frame vernacular with lots of Craftsman touches. We have 1 closet in the house, it’s in our second floor bedroom. There is a pocket window in this closet, and in the very back we have 2 steps that go nowhere. The second step is almost like a stair landing. It has the original wood top to it, so it wasn’t added later, and doesn’t open for storage. It is the strangest thing. We thought it may have been the original staircase to the attic, but there is no opening in our attic, or signs that one existed and was closed up. Anyone else have this, or any ideas what it may have been? I’m at a loss as to what it’s purpose would be.
