I agree with you; I love the photo of your farm house & out buildings. Please tell us more about your home! I'm an old farm lover!

LOL! THANK YOU! That's what I've been saying all along!

Last one I caught..."Home Inspection Nightmares" ...

"See, the laundry room used to be over here and <dramatic pause> somebody changed something. I want to know what. Tear all this (waves to the rest of the ceilings in the basement) out."

Yeah, *that's* what people should do when they are buying a house.

Hmm...let's see...I need a $200,000 mortgage to buy a house, and another $225,362.34 to get a "thorough" home inspection.

Don't know too much about it, built in 1890, owned by a Gustav Sankey who started the Oak Grove Dairy in 1897. Not sure if he built it or not. Has 3 small barns; one is a horse barn with 3 stalls, one is the dairy barn with stanchions, the other was supposedly a chicken barn (now a workshop and poker parlor, lol). Most of the land has been sold off for apartments and condos and what not, so I get only 1.3 acres. House is in great shape, needing mostly cosmetics (until I start doing things, then I'm sure I'll find a lot more stuff to fix). All original; 2 small bathrooms added; typical farmhouse kitchen reminiscent of the 70s. Current owners have lived there since 1978.

I'm excited. Can't wait to move in!!

as a contractor mike holmes pisses me off granted some of the shows the previos contractor was a crook. But he expects every contractor to completly rewire a house the second they see any questionable electric. I am sorry but most customers are not willing to pay for that when they brought you in for a kitchen remodel or what ever. I have also seen a few where the home owner was pissed when the contractor told them it would cost twice as much to fix it properly. well when you have a show paying the bill yeah you can do every thing perfectly and fix every problem you come across but in the real world that is not how it works

Well! Last night I saw Holmes come to solve a moisture problem in a lady's kitchen. He did not destroy anything; he had a granite company come & carefully remove the granite so he could remove the base cabinets & center island which were carefully stored while he figured out where the moisture was coming from. He had the concrete slab core bored & determined the floor didn't need to be removed. He installed a heated under tile floor, new 24 x 24 slate & carefully replaced the cabinets, center island, granite & even saved the lady's border around the ceiling. I was amazed!

That's only because she had socially acceptable brand new fancy granite crap. IF she had some old, good quality or "horrible" stuff like plaster it would have been torn out.

Radiant heat in a kitchen? Really? Wear some F****** slippers or socks. Kitchne already has a high heat load from all the appliances.... if you actually use them. Half of hte fancy mcmasnions I've been in didn't even need appliances other than a toaster ovena nd maybe 2 or 3 micorwaves and a big island to lay out the KFC, TAco Bell or whatever carry out mom brought home because she was "soo" busy that day spending daddy's moeny that she didn't have time to cook.

Maybe so but he thought the heat would help keep the moisture coming from the concrete dried out; that was the primary reason for the heated floor.
