For those of you out there that have operating (or non-operating) transom windows, do any of you have the variety that pivots in the middle of the sides of the sash instead of the bottom of the sash?
We have 4 doors that originally had transoms in them. The glass is long gone and the spot where the window went boarded up. I uncovered one of them that leads into our kitchen from the rear servants stairs and found evidence of what used to be there. At the time when I was working on it, I didn't have any additional resources to aid me in finding hardware or knowledge to get them back into 100% working condition so we ended up having a leaded glass insert made and I installed it and trimmed it out.
The other 3 transom canidates are still boarded up but I assume that I will find the same as I did on the other. But, I would really like to see if there is anybody out there that has or has knowledge of these types (center pivot) of transom windows and how exactly they operated
