I barrel sanded and edged in 36 and 80 grit and ran a vibrating buffer/sander in 80 to remove as many drum and disc marks as possible. The lumber I used for the repair is Oak the same age as the other flooring. I'm not to thrilled with the finish, I vacuumed as much as I could and tacked the floors and particles are still visible in the finish. Just too many cracks I guess. I spent 6 hours hand crafting thresholds from Poplar, it has the same subtle streaks of green as the bedroom but I think I'll stain it so it's not so clean looking! Also I have to say, that's the shiniest satin finish I ever saw.....
