CELTIS INSECTS
The most common insect on hackberry is hackberry nipple gall. A pouch or gall forms on the lower leaf surface in response to feeding. Sprays of Orthene applied in early May, when the leaves are expanding should control the problem.
Scales of various types may be found on hackberry. These may be controlled with dormant oil sprays applied in the spring. Crawlers may be controlled with sprays of Sevin or Orthene
