Aphids suck plant juices and are controlled with Diazinon, Sevin, rotenone, or malathion.

Aster leafhopper attacks can infect plants with aster yellows. Applications of methoxychlor, rotenone, Sevin, or Diazinon should take care of the problem.

A stalk borer may also attack this plant. No chemical control is listed.
