Crataegus mollis--Red Haw, Downy Hawthorn

Red haw grows to 40 feet and tolerates heavy or infertile soil. The tree is dense and has larger leaves than other hawthorns. The flowers, borne in April or May, are white marked with red. The red fruit drop early. The fall color is yellow.
