Russian olive grows 15 to 20 feet tall, spreads 35 to 40 feet and is grown for its silvery gray foliage. It has a rapid growth rate when young becoming moderate with age. The tree prefers a sunny location and is tolerant of most soil types. This thorny tree transplants well but susceptibility to canker diseases make it undesirable for landscape plantings.
