Sweating Plants

By The Old House Web

Often, purchased plants are need to be "sweated" in order to stimulate growth. High humidity and warm temperatures help to "break" buds on dormant bare rooted plants and initiate growth.

Plant roots should be covered with wet/moist sphagnum peat moss and then plants covered with plastic. Make sure the plastic doesn't prevent air circulation through the plant material. Keep material out of direct sunlight. Check daily for indications of bud break/growth.
