Episcia - Flame Violet, Peacock Plant, Chameleon Plant

Episcia is sometimes called the orange african violet. Although not in the same genus as african violet, it is in the same family. Provide partial shade and protection from strong sunshine. Keep the soil constantly moist but do not leave the pot sitting in water. Various fertilizers may be used at rates recommended on the label. Regular fertilization is needed when using soilless mixes. Ideal temperatures are 65 to 70 degrees at night and 70 to 80 degrees during the day. Avoid temperatures below 55 degrees and maintain high humidity. A vine type growth habit allows the plant to be used in hanging containers. Episcia grows well in light gardens.

Propagation is by cuttings, runners and division.
