There are many types of daffodils and most are suitable for naturalistic plantings. They are long lived but will not tolerate water-logged soil. They do like a fertile well drained soil. The flowers last longer in partial shade.

Daffodils are planted in the fall, 6 inches deep and 6 inches apart. Double nosed bulbs are actually two blooming sized bulbs joined together. These produce two flowers instead of one. Daffodils are divided when the leaves mature. Many leaves and few flowers indicate a need for dividing.
