Nicotiana produces fragrant, tubular flowers in shades of white, red, or pink. They grow in any garden soil and prefer full sun to partial shade. Young plants need warmth and sunshine. Regular fertilization is recommended. Nicotiana makes a good cut flower. Self seeded volunteers usually don't come true to color.
The seed germinates in two to three weeks at 68 to 86 degrees. The seed needs light for germination.
