Leaf and pod spot causes black spots on the leaves and seed pods. It is not serious enough to warrant control. The spots on the pods will not affect the ornamental value of the siliciles and will peel off with the outer covering. No chemical control is listed. The disease is caused by Alternaria oleracea.

Club root causes distorted and swollen roots. The tops wilt on hot days but recover at night. Dispose of infected plants and avoid infested soil. No chemical control is available.
