A widely planted evergreen that will grow 50 feet tall and 30 feet wide. The bluish green foliage usually turns yellowish green in winter. Orangish bark, peeling in papery flakes, is visible through the canopy. The plant will tolerate dry soil and grows in zone 3. In recent years the tree has been bothered with fatal attacks of pine wood nematode therefore its use in landscapes is not recommended.
