Clean your indoor air quietly with the American UV Light. Installed inside your existing ductwork, it can clean up to 5,000 square feet of living area, says the manufacturer.

The compact, ten-pound unit cleans the passing air with ultra-violet light, eliminating many airborne contaminants. A downside: You'll need to replace the light bulb on the unit annually, at a cost of about $80.

The technology has been used for several decades; principally in hospitals, laboratories, food manufacturing plants and other commercial applications.
