Some folks may think that you can get a slate floor in any color you want - as long as it's gray. The Vermont-based company Camara Slate quarries and fabricates slate floor tiles in a surprising array of colors, such as red, black, sea green, shadow gray and even a deep purple.
The naturally-occurring fissures and crevices in the slate create a slip-resistant floor that meets ADA requirements and is naturally resistant to heat, moisture and heavy foot traffic. Slate tiles can be used indoors or outside and are available in 16 sizes and nine colors.
