This steel hammer is sized between a lighter trim hammer and a heavier framing hammer. Because it handles both kinds of jobs, its a good all-purpose hammer.
The Estwing is made from a single piece of forged steel that wont break. The molded nylon-vinyl handle provides a comfortable, non-slip grip that absorbs vibration effectively. Its straight rip claws are good for prying up old floor boards, chopping away rotten sills -- and can even serve as an emergency brake for anyone who finds himself sliding toward the edge of the roof.
The Estwing E3-20S sold for about $25 in September 2004.
